How to Help Sphynx Cats Keep Warm

Sphynx cats are cute and adorable hairless cats. They lack fur and their skin is soft like chamois. Sphynx cats are indoor cats mainly because of their need to be kept warm. As a pet owner, you can do many things to help keep your sphynx cat warm at all times.

Keep temperature around your house to a warm level. Set the thermostat to around seventy. This should be comfortable enough for your cat. Sphynx cats like to sleep where it is warm. You will often find them snuggled up near a windowsill when it is hot and sunny outside. Give your cat access to windows and keep the breakables away to prevent untoward accidents from happening.

Provide your cat with a warm and comfortable bed. Keep it fluffed and soft with fleece blankets or you can place your worn out sweaters for your cat to snuggle on. Observe where your cat usually takes a nap. Sphynx cats are heat-seeking and they will tend to frequent warm places. It should not come as a surprise that apart from windowsills, you will find them near stoves, burners and vents. You can place your cat’s bed in these areas. However, as responsible a pet owner, you should take extra precautions to ensure the safety of your cat and your home. Place a gate in front of wood stoves, cover hot burners when not in use and see to it that your cat does not come in contact with the heater vents when they are hot.

Another way to keep sphynx cats warm is by dressing them up with cat sweaters. You can make one on your own out of old socks for kittens and old shirt sleeves for adult cats. You can cut holes on them for the head and legs of your cat. You can also buy sweaters from most local pet stores or online.

Choose the Best Cat Sweater for Hairless Sphynx Cat

Sphynx cats need to stay warm at all times. Being hairless, they have fast metabolism and they easily get cold. Keeping them indoors would ensure that they do not get sick because of the cold. But since you cannot expect them to stay indoors all the time as you might want to bring them along with you when you go places, you need to keep them warm by dressing them up with protective clothing. The best cat wear for sphynx cats is the cat sweater. What should you look for when choosing a cat sweater for your hairless sphynx cat? You can follow the following guidelines before you choose hireless sphynx cat clothes.

First, it should provide your cat with comfort. Just like humans, choose a sweater that your cat will be comfortable in. The sweater should not be too tight so as not to constrict movement and not too loose that it might fall off your pet’s body.

Secondly, it should be absorbent. Hairless sphynx cats lack the ability to absorb body oils. Choose a cat sweater made of fabric that can absorb body oils.

Third, it should keep your cat warm. Your cat sweater of choice should have the capacity to trap heat to keep your cat warm in rooms with air-conditioning units and during autumn and winter seasons. Cotton fabric does a great job in keeping cats warm.

Fourth, it should keep your cat safe and clean. Being hairless, sphynx cats attract more dirt and dust than the regular furry cats. Because of this, they need to be bathed on a regular basis. Cat sweaters should protect your cat’s body from these elements and prevent them from keeping in contact with elements harmful to the skin.

Fifth, cat sweaters should be stylish. You can do more than provide your cat with the protective clothing that it deserves by dressing it up with something that is trendy, hip and stylish.

Cat Sweater Review: Sphynx Designer Fleece Cat Sweater

My friend Teresa owns a sphynx cat, Iris, and she is throwing her a birthday party. I have seen Iris a couple of times when I come by to visit their home. Unlike most cats that like to keep to themselves, Iris is super cool. She is very friendly and fun to be with. She even curled on my feet while Teresa and I were having coffee. I love the fact that Teresa dresses her up. She has these cute shirts, sweaters and jackets. Iris looked adorable on them. For Iris birthday, I plan to buy her something to add to her collection. I want to buy her something trendy and fashionable. At the same time, something that will keep her warm especially during the colder months of the year.

I searched online and I found these gorgeous sphynx designer fleece cat sweaters in Amazon. I was especially drawn to the Turquoise Plaid sweater by Sphynx Swag. I remember Teresa loves the color turquoise and I am sure that she will love this one. Iris has brown skin and the color will surely look good on her. I love the neck and hemlines of the sweater. They give it a fashionable look. I also liked the fact that it is made of fleece material. It will surely make Iris feel warm even during cold days. She can also wear it when she is in an air conditioned room. I was also very impressed that it only costs $23.50 plus shipping. I do most of my online purchases through Amazon and I make it a point to check out the suppliers before I buy a specific item. And it satisfied me that Sphynx Swag has 100% positive reviews. It is hard to look for credible suppliers of sphynx cat accessories and shirts online and I will definitely recommend sphynx Swag to Teresa and other sphynx cat lovers.

Sphynx Cat Shirt Review: Sphynx Designer Ribbed Knit Cat Shirt

I am a proud sphynx cat owner. My cat’s name is Arielle, she has been with me for 5 years now. I love her so much because she is so adorable. Whenever I come home, I would find her rushing to the door to greet me. Unlike other cats that are aloof and want to keep to themselves, Arielle likes to be socialize with other members of our household. She is great company even for my nieces and nephew who come and visit us from time to time.

Arielle and I have great bonding time during bathing and grooming. I like to give her treats after each bath to reward her for her good behaviour. I also love to dress her up even when we are at home. Through time, we have amassed a lot of accessories, sweaters, shirts and jackets which I have bought both online and from local stores and several pieces given to us by friends and relatives. But if there is one which she considered her favourite, it has got to be the Sphynx Designer Ribbed Knit Cat Shirt. It is one of the shirts that I bought online by Sphynx Swag from Amazon.com. They make the coolest and most comfortable cat shirts and sweaters that I could find online.

The Sphynx Designer Ribbed Knit Cat shirt with the Sweater Nauti Cat design comes in aquamarine and black stripes. It is made of cotton which makes it great because it absorbs body oils that my sphynx cat cannot absorb because of its lack of fur. It also protects Arielle’s body from dust and dirt so she does not get dirty that easily. The Nauti Cat comes in a turtle neck design keeping Arielle’s body mostly covered. What I love most about the Nauti Cat is its fit. The stretchy material allows it to adjust to Arielle’s body. It fits her perfectly.

Hairless Sphynx Cat Care

Sphynx cats are distinctly known for its lack of coat or fur. They are playful, energetic, sociable and endearing to their owners. They can live up to 20 years with proper care and nutrition. Being hairless cats, sphynx need special care and attention. For one, sphynx cats need to be kept indoors. Their lack of hair makes them susceptible to changes in temperature. They need to be kept warm and comfortable. They love to snuggle near the windowsill so make sure you get them access to a window. Provide comfortable beds with blankets for them to snuggle on all over the house.

Sphynx cats are very particular about their litter box. They may not use it if it is filthy so make sure that you clean it on a regular basis to thwart bacteria build up and prevent sphynx cats from littering somewhere else around the house.

Regular bathing and grooming should be part of a sphynx cat’s routine. Their lack of hair makes them incapable of absorbing oils. Thus, they tend to attract more dust, oils and dirt. To keep them healthy, sphynx cats should be bathed once a week. Cleaning their ears should be done regularly to prevent ear problems. Since sphynx cats do not have eyelashes, they tend to accumulate dirt around the corner of its eyes. Clean the eyes with a moist cloth at least once a week to prevent infections. Nails of sphynx cats could get really sharp if not clipped regularly. At least once every two weeks, they should be clipped and kept short so they do not hurt themselves and cause damage to furniture and floors around the house. Installing scratching posts around the house is recommended to address this concern.

Feeding your cat with nutritious foods is also important to keep them healthy. Regular visit to your veterinarian will also ensure that you will be able to enjoy the company of your sphynx cat for a very long time.
